Summer Gala Concert 2016

We invite you to our Summer Gala Concert on 29th May at 6 pm (note the early start time!) at the Holy Rosary Church, Greystones. This promises to be a magnificent celebration with wonderful soloists and choral music. The concert will be presented by Liz Nolan of RTÉ Lyric FM. This Concert is is made possible by the generous support of the musicians involved who are all ‘friends of Leo’s Journey’.

Leo attends SDR Fitness Wales with Mark Shane Harries several times a year for expert strength training and confidence building. These sessions, together with his sessions here in Greystones with Daniela Dietl, play a central role in Leo’s life and are vital if he is to achieve his goal of walking unaided. Recently Leo took his first unaided steps. Since attending SDR Fitness Wales, Leo has changed beyond measure. His confidence has grown, his physical strength is better than ever and belief in himself is very strong.

This training and therapy is not available in Ireland under the HSE. Enable Ireland (under the HSE) monitor his progress and he currently receives a 45-minute assessment and exercise session with them once a fortnight.

The funds raised at this concert will go towards his trips to Wales, his personal training here in Greystones with Daniela, specialised splints, leg supports and shoes that he needs and as he grows, require constant changing. These funds will also go towards special needs group activities that he attends, e.g. yoga, frame football. A dream of Leo is to have a ‘sports wheelchair’. The cost of all of the above is substantial. Both Stuart and I are extremely appreciative of the continued help and support of the Greystones community and all the friends and family who support us in his journey. Without this help, we would not be able to give Leo the necessary tools to be the best that he can be and, eventually, walk unaided.
